Specialty Training

SmartyPaws dog training accreditations and affiliations

Specialty classes are sports that we teach as requests for them come in. Prices vary, so please contact your trainer if you want to enroll your dog. You’ll need to bring your dog on a leash that’s six feet or shorter.

These are the specialty training classes we currently offer:

  • Rally I – dogs must have completed the Basic Obedience Class.
  • Rally II – dogs must have successfully completed Rally I.
  • Scent Work Classes – Great for the shy or fearful dog. It helps them gain confidence and helps develop team work between dog and handler.
  • Puppy Social Hour – Just for puppies under six months of age. They get to socialize with each other and be introduced to new noises, people, and textures.
  • Conformation Handling – These are are drop-in classes so please contact us for details.

We allow up to two handlers per dog in our classes.

Updated shots and a negative fecal test that is at least 6 months recent is required at registration. Any dogs one year and older must have a current DHPP vaccine and rabies vaccine.

FIRST NIGHT OF ANY CLASS

  • Dogs must have vaccinations and negative fecal exam at least 6 months recent. Please bring your shot records to the first night of class. See our FAQ for more information on this.
  • Payment is due in full prior to class start date.
  • Please dress comfortably in tennis shoes.
  • Please be sure your dog is in good health and fit for this training.
  • If you or your dog have a special need such as recovering from an injury or surgery, please let us know ahead of class.

NOT ALLOWED

  • Aggressive dogs.
  • Choke, pinch, or shock collars.
  • Sandals or flip flops.
  • Bitches in season. We can make these classes up if this happens.
