Our obedience courses are for training the growing dog who can now focus for longer periods of time and who also may be showing some adolescent tendencies that need to be addressed. Some behaviors just aren’t cute when Fluffy gets to 50 lbs!!!

Dogs will learn sit, down, stay, come when called, and leave it. They’ll also be taught to walk on a leash without pulling and sitting when you stop. Distance is added to all stays and recalls.

Discussion includes socializing, spay/neuter, jumping, destructiveness, handling, feeding, etc. as well as individual problem areas.

This class will also include exercises to prepare your dog for AKC’s Canine Good Citizens test. Testing may be arranged and performed at SmartyPaws.

We allow up to two handlers per dog in our classes.

Updated shots and a negative fecal test that is at least 6 months recent is required at registration. Any dogs one year and older must have a current DHPP vaccine and rabies vaccine.

This class is for dogs six months and older.

NO DOGS THE FIRST WEEK. OWNERS ONLY! Also, if your dog was recently rescued/adopted please wait four weeks before enrolling in any classes.

Dogs must have learned the basic foundation exercises: heeling, recall, sit stay, and down stay.

This class is for handlers and their dogs that have the basic obedience foundation exercises but want to improve for showing or to just take it up another level.

This is not a class for beginner dogs.

This class is for dogs and handlers that have completed our Basic Obedience class or have been evaluated by an instructor prior to sign up.

Refining behaviors and learning new skills like hand signals and working with distractions are just a few of the topics covered.

FIRST NIGHT OF ANY CLASS

Dogs must have vaccinations and negative fecal exam at least 6 months recent. Please bring your shot records to the first night of class. See our FAQ for more information on this.
Payment is due in full prior to class start date.
Do not bring dogs on extendable/retractable leashes.
Bring small bite treats that your dog loves!

NOT ALLOWED

Aggressive dogs.
Choke, pinch, or shock collars.
Sandals or flip flops.
Bitches in season. We can make these classes up if this happens.
