Lead Service Dog Trainer at SmartyPaws Canine Coaching

Janet has been training Service Dogs for 15 years. She received her first Service Animal in 2003 and became a Service Dog Trainer herself in 2005. Janet attended Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota and Mary McKnight’s Service Dog Academy. As well as continuing education in Obedience, Behavior, Diabetic Alert Training with Deby Kay Super Snifer program also attends workshops for Medical Alert Training. Working toward making Smarty Paws an acredited school through Assistance Dog International. Volunteers with PAL humane society to raise funds for Military Veterans.

Janet began working for SmartyPaws in 2012, under her supervision and care the Service Dog Program has seen great success and growth.

Volunteer and Fundraising Work

She regularly attends and assists in the planning of fundraising for Military Veterans for the training of Service Dogs.  Participates in Hot Rods and Service Dogs Annual Car Show (fund raising for military veterans). Volunteer Trainer for Pets for Vets Nonprofit Organization.

Personal Accomplishments

As well as being a fantastic trainer, Janet loves to compete in sport dog events.  She has been competing in agility for over 4 years and has titled.  She has been competing in Flyball for 9 years and her 2 flyball dogs now retired reached their 20,000 points. She continues to train her dogs and compete in both events.
