Obedience Trainer | Agility Trainer | Owner of SmartyPaws Canine Coaching
My experience with dogs goes back 50 years. I was always outside teaching my dogs, and cats tricks as a child. When I started my own family I wished my children to learn to love and respect animals as much as I did. My love for Shelties and herding dogs grew to a point where I started showing them on the East Coast and breeding them on our horse farm in Maryland. I continued to train them in obedience and watched them naturally herd the horses.
I have a B.S. degree in education and bring a love for both children and dogs to SmartyPaws. I now own three Border Collies,. I have trained my first Border Collie, Hemi to be a trained service and therapy dog.Two of my Border Collies have earned several agility titles. My oldest dog, Hemi who has since past over the Rainbow Bridge, was voted Las Vegas most talented dog a few years ago. I owe all my opportunities and accomplishments to my first Border Collie, Hemi. He actually auditioned for me that started my first professional training career. I am active in the national volunteer team for Canine Assistants that train service dogs for the disabled and am a member of Las Vegas K-9 Therapist. I hold a SARA (Service Animal Registry Association) certification. I am also a member of association of Professional DogTrainers and Therapy Dog Inc. and attended training at Canine Assistants for Service Dogs. I am also a mentor for the Animal Behavior College out of California. I am on the board of directors for PAL Humane Society(Protect All Life). Smartypaws is actively pursuing accreditation for ADI (Assistants Dogs International). This will better serve the needs of disable veterans in our community.
My goal is to make sure that both dogs and owners are always enjoying their training experience and make the environment a positive one.
